Mary Jane Rattner

Mary Jane Rattner, M.A., CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist with over 30+ years of experience in a variety of professional settings. Mary Jane received her Master’s degree from Northwestern University in 1989. At La Rabida Children’s Hospital, she teamed with other professionals providing speech and language, feeding, and developmental consultations to both inpatient and outpatient populations. While at La Rabida, she was Director of Resident Education for the Rehabilitative Services Department. Mary Jane has been working in private practice and clinic settings since 1994. She has supervised student interns. She has lectured at Northwestern University and provided training in language development to various preschool programs in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Mary Jane has authored two articles on feeding and multi-sensory activities to stimulate language development. She specializes in the treatment and evaluation of children with dyspraxia, auditory processing disorders, phonological deficits, oral motor and feeding dysfunction, and other speech and language disorders.

Over the past year, she has enjoyed the challenge of providing services through teletherapy and having fun exploring this new medium. Mary Jane has training in Sensory Integration and DIR/ Floortime, Therapeutic Listening, Oral Motor Placement Therapy, Food Chaining, and the Get Permission Approach and takes an eclectic approach to working with her clients. Her favorite place to be is the beach, especially near the ocean. In her spare time, you can find her spending time with family and friends, arranging flowers, potting plants, and wandering around the Botanic Gardens.
